In light of the recent outbreaks of confirmed cases of Equine Flu we have reviewed our policy to include PASSPORT CHECKS FOR ALL VISITING HORSES

Do not unload your horse until your horse’s passport has been checked. On arrival, please bring your passport to the Events Office on the Clubhouse ground floor or if coming for lessons to Reception on the 1st floor of the Clubhouse. It is strongly recommended that if vaccinations have not been made within the last 6 months, a booster is given but 7 clear days must be allowed before competing.
Competitors should not travel from yards where any suspected cases exist. Please note that signs of flu may be mild & symptoms can include coughing, nasal discharge, a high temperature, swollen glands (under the lower jaw), depression, & loss of appetite. Affected horses often don’t show all of these signs & infection can easily be missed.

We will continue to follow BEF & BEVA guidance – at the present time there is no recommendations to cancel competitions or riding lessons. We have been liaising with our vets Scott-Dunns Equine Clinic to ensure we keep fully updated as to the latest risks & take necessary preventative precautions. We respectfully ask all visitors, industry professionals, clients & competitors to abide by bio security notices on-site & to stay vigilant to potential risks.
COMPETITORS SHOULD ONLY ACCESS DESIGNATED COMPETITOR AREAS & HAVE THEIR HORSE’S PASSPORT READILY AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION.

Please follow our bio security guidelines:

  • Check your horse’s vaccinations are up-to-date
  • Discuss a vaccination boosters with your vet
  • Do not allow horses to mix & touch
  • Avoid direct contact with other people’s horses
  • Keep your own equipment to yourself
  • Do not use communal areas for grazing or drinking etc
  • If symptoms appear owners should isolate their horse & call the vet immediately
